Storage As A Service Pricing   Process   Overview PTC Storage As A Services (SaaS) is enabling organization to have a cost-effective solution to archive data or for sharing storage space. When an organization data grow. they either have to purchase more disk space or change their current storage strategy. One solution, is to archive petabytes of data from their current location to a remote site. Alternatively if the organization needs to share data storage, they could use SaaS rather than buying more disk storage sub systems. PTC SaaS today serves the users on the SingAREN Network and will be developed to serve the commercial users. Archiving This service targets mainly, archive storage. As the data on expensive primary storage grow, users can off load the data to a secondary storage at remote site. This will free up storage space on the expensive primary storage and archive data can be kept on a lower cost secondary storage. As data for archiving require more disk space compare on primary storage, the problem on archive data is larger and more complex. The availability of data plays an important on archive data. Linking into the SingAREN and in turn the National Grid Pilot Platform, the users are able to map the drive for archive data. Data is stored on disk drive will be easier more available and searchable. Using native CIFS/NFS drive mounts, it is easy for SingAREN users to link into the SaaS for archiving their data. We offer a 99.9% (SLA) uptime for the archive data. Shared Storage PTC SaaS can be used as a shared storage for users that need to share the files with others. An example application is providing a mirror database for Singapore-based biomedical researches to access NCBI data quickly. The users now only need to download files from local mirror copy than pulling huge files form the US web site.   This will solve both the bandwidth issues and the performance of the database download. They do not need to keep a copy of the file on their storage device but used the SaaS to provide the data. It will help to reduce the storage space and cost. Backup /Security/ WAN optimization PTC also offer backup of data to tape, data de-duplication and WAN optimization. Data Security based on the latest art of technique to secure the data in transit or at rest. These are optional services of data store on the SaaS.
